purt good story!
I said I would never watch another Jeff Bridges Movie again, but 'Blown Away' the 1994 effort
piqued My curiosity as I wanted to watch Lloyd Bridges in one of His last roles and I had never
seen it?
The 'Dolphin' features in this Movie as a Honduran Registered wreck of a Ship berthed in Boston.
[and Dolphin seems to regularly appear in Jeff Bridges Movies in one form or another
but then again 'BLUE DOLPHIN' is a Cocktail.. JAMES MASON also played THE DOLPHIN in
His first 'Big Role' Movie and probably mentored Him in Acting? MASON was also A 'Radio Actor'
who appeared in many Movies both in Europe and Hollywood including 'ODD MAN OUT' as an Irish
Republican and the 1978 'HEAVEN CAN WAIT' as an LA RAMS QUARTERBACK...an earlier
1961 effort 'THE MARRIAGE GO-ROUND' involving a Swedish Woman wanting an American to Father a Child ...and the 1945 'THE SEVENTH VEIL'. .not forgetting the 1936 'TWICE BRANDED' etc see IMDB ]
'BLUE DOLPIN' is Methamphetamine/ECSTASY in Europe - first produced commercially in Los Angeles and imprinted onto Tablets
Apart from the awful Storyline, the Implausible Special effects/Stunts and the truly impressively
terrible accents it was nice to see Boston as a backdrop as it is a City I've never visited.
Lloyd's character meets a spectacular end after drinking heavily throughout and smoking an occasional Cigar- He even throws a 'Spanner in the Works' of a Hot-tub! but old Tommy Lee Jones steals the
Scenes in His assorted Costumes including His 'Jesus' T-shirt and 'Shades' as He rides His Bicycle to His next victim.
[does a little 'Ventriloquist' Cameo too!]Mercury features throughout [Detonator switches etc]and 'balance' is an underlying
'Theme' Something I think accentuated in the 'exploding Headphones' Scene?. .but
'Mike Dove' [very 'Pigeon!' or 'M D']saves the day. Interesting Scripting/Characterization Dude.
and does a little musical 'Keyboarding' with His fictional Kite Flyer Daughter.
Tommy's Character is a Book reading Jailbird before embarking on a 'sinister' Career as a 'Clown/Entertainer' / Murderer/ former 'Revolutionary' freedom Fighter? Your choice..
with a penchant for overcomplicating His weaponry with Childhood Toys etc.
Why do Murderers and unfunny Clowns feature so heavily in Hollywood Productions?
Baseball and Fenway Park are included - it was nice to see as FSG are also owners of My Club
Liverpool F C.
Motorcycles featured prominently with old Jeff riding what looked like a Fatboy [May have been a 'Sportster?']and Lloyd obviously
enjoyed hamming it up but I suppose it was a Movie of its time which now looks a bit outdated to a
modern Audience? the Music wasn't bad .but .U2 ? nah old hat...I much preferred the 1812 overture
A brief Scene in the Irish Bar featuring Boxing had Me thinking about an earlier Jeff Bridges Movie
and I wondered? do elements of all His previous Acting roles in Movies re-appear
Anyways in spite of Myself I've decided to catch up a little on what I've been missing..
